What is “Fat-Max” and why you should improve it

“Fat Max” is a term that has been popularized by Bob Seebohar and his studies in metabolic efficiency. There has been some really ground breaking work from Steve Neal and the Cycling Gym in Toronto which has implemented the ideas of Bob Seebohar to their indoor training methods and blending the use of power based targets as well as heart rate limited workouts to maximize their riders aerobic efficiency output. Take a listen to a great podcast with Steve Neal and Flo Cycling as he describe his methodology.

You’ll find that in our Endurance Lab plans we use a lot of prescribed work at 60-80% of a riders threshold to fill a riders week to reach their TSS goal while also adding a 83% of Max HR cap as the intervals get longer. Leave a message in the comments below if you have any questions. But, in the meantime enjoy the Fast Podcast with FLO.
